In France, Interpol officers detained Armen Sarkisyan, whom Ukrainian law enforcement considers to be an organizer of the "titushky" during the Revolution of Dignity.
According to MP Anton Herashchenko, the Prosecutor General’s Office must now send to France a set of documents necessary for the extradition of Sarkisyan to Ukraine.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Arsen Avakov, told Ukrainska Pravda that Armen Sarkisyan was detained on the road during a document check. A preventive measure was imposed on him—a personal commitment to comply with all court orders until May 19, and during this time the Prosecutor General’s Office must send documents regarding his extradition.
Avakov reminded that Ukrainian investigators consider Sarkisyan one of the organizers of the "titushky" during Euromaidan. In particular, the murder of journalist Vyacheslav Veremiy was carried out by a group led by Sarkisyan. Recently arrested Yuriy Krysin was his "protégé."
"French colleagues, at our request, detained Sarkisyan. However, he presented himself as a citizen of Armenia, although he also has a Ukrainian passport, which he received before his Armenian one," Avakov said.
There are other criminal episodes related to Sarkisyan, including the organization of explosions and other crimes.
