In the Poltava region, the man was given 18 summonses. However, he managed to avoid mobilization, despite the fact that he was declared fit for military service.
This was reported at a briefing by Roman Istomin, Head of the public relations service of the Poltava Regional TRC and CC.
A resident of the Poltava region received 18 summonses between June and November 2023. He came to the TRC 16 times, but because of his health, military units refused to take him into service. As the man himself states, the last time he was taken to military units personally by the lieutenant colonel, but each time he was returned back. Therefore, he decided to ignore the last two summonses. Thats why the court found the man guilty under Art. 336 (Evasion of military service during mobilization) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced to 4 years in prison. However, the accused admitted his guilt and repented, so the court commuted his sentence to 2 years of probation. “He noted the disorder in the TRC system, claimed that his military ID, which is kept by the TRC employees, does not reflect all the information on his registration, and the TRC employees constantly correct the dates in it instead of entering valid information. All of the above influenced him and became a consequence that the last two times he really did not appear for summonses,” the court materials say.
TCR’s reaction
“The citizen was repeatedly given summonses, he appeared at the TRC for them. The military medical commission declared him fit for military service, and was sent to training centers,” said Roman Istomin. However, the training centers where mobilized people are sent also have a selection committee. Which refused to accept the man for training: “There is a psychologist, a doctor who examines the arriving people. When they say that the TRC is raking everyone: the “lame”, the sick... They select people from the training center; you cannot bring anyone and shove them into the training center. There is a selection there. And the citizen communicates there without the presence of a representative of the TRC, that is, we don’t know what he said there, perhaps he pretended to have epilepsy, perhaps he said that his blood pressure was constantly high, but in general, according to the current legislation, he is fit for military service . There was only a decision that the training center refused to accept him. Therefore, he received a summons for the next date,” Istomin said.
