Deputy head of Zaporizhzhya regional council and his associates detained for bribery


The SSU and NABU detained the deputy head of the Zaporizhzhya regional council who tried to bribe the director of a regional medical institution. His assistant and a deputy of the same regional council were detained along with him.

This was reported by the press service of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Security Service of Ukraine.

According to RBC-Ukraine sources in law enforcement agencies, we are talking about the ex-prosecutor of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine Vladyslav  Kutsenko. On December 23, 2020, he was elected deputy chairman of the Zaporizhzhya regional council.

According to NABU, officials tried to bribe the director of a regional medical institution. For the bribe, the head of the medical institution was supposed to help predetermined companies win in medical procurement. It should also facilitate financial transactions in the health care facility for the benefit of the financial institutions.

The deputy chairman of the regional council and his henchmen were detained “in the act”, immediately after they transferred the entire amount of illegal benefits. Searches are currently ongoing at the places of work and residence of the defendants. They face up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
