Former Minister of Education Tabachnyk sentenced in absentia

Former Minister of Education and Science Dmytro Tabachnyk was sentenced to 15 years in prison in absentia. The court also sentenced the former head of the State Registration Service, Dmytro Vorona, to 12 years in absentia.

The SSU reports this.

Also, the convicts had their property worth more than 200 million UAH confiscated.

Tabachnik and Vorona are hiding in Russia and the occupied territory of Ukraine, where they are engaged in subversive activities against the state. Former officials are in direct contact with a staff member of the 9th Directorate of the Operational Information Department of the 5th FSB Service, Oleh Kozlov.

"Under his coordination, Tabachnyk regularly provided the occupiers with his own forecasts on the development of the socio-political situation in Ukraine after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. Also, on the instructions of the aggressor, he advised the Gauleiter Saldo and Balytskyi on holding pseudo-referendums in the temporarily occupied districts of Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions. Another task of Tabachnyk was to provide local collaborators with "methodological" assistance in reformatting the educational sector according to Russian "standards", the SSU reminded.

Vorona was also an adviser to Balitsky: he prepared an appeal to Putin, in which he proposed rewarding the Russian military and collaborators. He also helped the invaders create the occupation bodies of Russia.

Now Vorona is a “Russian senator from the Zaporizhzhya region” and has moved to Moscow.

The court found Tabachnyk and Vorona guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: ch. 2 tbsp. 111 (high treason committed under martial law); Part 1 Art. 111-2 (aiding the aggressor state); h. 2 tbsp. 28, part 1 art. 438 (violation of the laws and customs of war).
