Mobilization in Ukraine: which women will be drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine in May


Women who register for military service will not be forcibly drafted into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during mobilization in Ukraine. However, those who are in the service must perform military duty on an equal basis with men.

On May 18, a new law on mobilization in Ukraine came into force. As a result, not only men, but also women liable for military service must register for military service. This was discussed in more detail in the TSN story.

Mobilization in Ukraine: which women should register for military service

During mobilization in Ukraine, women with medical education must be registered for military service, namely:

physical therapy; medical and psychological rehabilitation; public health; physical rehabilitation; industrial pharmaceuticals; pharmaceuticals; sanitation and examination; dentistry; medicine; nursing; technologies of medical diagnostics and treatment; biomedical engineering; biotechnology and bioengineering; pathology professionals; toxicology; pharmacology; physiology and epidemiology.

In addition, women who have an education related to a military specialty from the list approved by the Ministry of Defence can register at their own request.

Which women will be mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine?

Some categories of women must register for military service during mobilization in Ukraine, but this will not mean that they will be drafted. Accounting is needed so that the General Staff of the Armed Forces understands how many doctors are in reserve. Women can be drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine during mobilization in Ukraine only on a voluntary basis.

According to the law on mobilization in Ukraine, women called up for service must perform military duties on an equal basis with men. They may be dismissed from service due to pregnancy or parental leave.

Intensifying mobilization in Ukraine: which women will not be drafted into the army

They cannot mobilize into the Armed Forces of Ukraine:

women with three or more children, a child with a disability or an adopted child; women whose husband or parents have disabilities; single mothers; female students; booked Ukrainian women.
