NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenbeng insists that Ukraine has the right to strike Russian territory, and stresses that a growing number of allies agree.
This was reported by a European Pravda correspondent from Prague, where the NATO ministerial meeting is taking place.
“Ukraine has the right to self-defense and this includes strikes against targets on Russian territory. This becomes even more urgent against the backdrop of the opening of a new front (in the Kharkiv region - EP).”
Stoltenberg emphasized that his conviction is due to the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes on Russia are defensive in nature.
“Ukraine must have the right to strike back in order to defend itself,” the Secretary General emphasized, separately emphasizing that for effective defense Ukraine must use the latest NATO weapons.
He also recalled that an increasing number of NATO member states are providing permission to Ukraine to use their weapons, but did not say what conditions are being put forward for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“We expect that this (strikes on Russia - Ed.) will be carried out responsibly,” Stoltenberg concluded.
