Fierce fighting continues in eastern Ukraine, with the situation in the Toretsk and Pokrovsk directions being particularly tense. The defenders holding off the enemy there will be reinforced with Western weapons from aid packages currently arriving in Ukraine.
In the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, Ukrainian soldiers continue to advance forward; since the beginning of the day, they have advanced 1-2 km in different directions and captured more than a hundred Russian occupiers. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported this to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the morning of August 14; a brief summary of the report was published by the head of state himself.
Thus, according to the president, the military-political leadership of the state is paying special attention to the situation on the eastern front.
"The morning report of Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi regarding the situation in all main directions, especially Toretsk and Pokrovsk, as well as the operation in the Kursk region. We do not forget about our east for a second. I instructed the Commander-in-Chief to strengthen the direction from the packages currently being supplied by partners," Zelenskyy noted.
At the same time, the Kursk operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces continues to gain momentum. Despite the statements of Russian officials and propagandists about the "destruction of the main part" of the forces involved in the operation, the Russians failed not only to liberate the territories occupied by the Ukrainians, but also to stop the further advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"We are moving further in the Kursk region. From one to two kilometers in different areas since the beginning of the day. And more than 100 more captured Russian soldiers during the same period. I am grateful to everyone involved. This will speed up the return of our guys home," Zelenskyy concluded.
