The occupiers massively shelled Donetsk region: there are dead and many wounded


On Sunday, August 18, Russian occupation forces again shelled peaceful settlements in the Donetsk region. The Pokrovsk, Bakhmut and Volnovakha districts were under enemy fire. As a result of the invaders’ attacks, there are dead and wounded Ukrainian civilians.

This was reported by the head of the Donetsk regional military administration Vadym Filashkin on his Telegram channel. According to him, in the evening, the Russian army came under fire in the village of Rozlyv of the Velykonovosilkove community - one person was killed and another was injured.

The victim of the Russian attack was a 25-year-old man. A 23-year-old civilian received bodily injuries and was taken to hospital. Seven private houses, a power line, and a car were damaged in the village.

In addition, Velyka Novosilka was shelled - 6 houses were damaged. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.

The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office later reported that at 17:45 the Pokrovsk District came under the gun of the aggressor state’s troops. Four people were injured - three men aged 30, 57 and 59 and a woman aged 25. They were diagnosed with mine-explosive trauma, cut wounds and shrapnel wounds.

At the time of the attack, they were driving a car along one of the roads near the village of Novoukrainka.

In addition, Russian troops struck the city of Toretsk. A shell from the occupiers hit a house where a married couple lived. A 67-year-old woman died, and her 64-year-old husband was injured. He is in serious condition.

"Under the procedural leadership of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into a criminal case on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Prosecutors are taking all possible and appropriate measures to document war crimes committed by representatives of the Russian Armed Forces," the statement said.
