Ukrainian defense forces have regained previously lost positions southeast of Pokrovsk in Donetsk region, according to a September 2 report from the Institute for the Study of War.
Geolocation images indicate that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have restored their positions in the southwestern part of Novogrodovka (southeast of Pokrovsk). The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the occupiers in the Pokrovsk direction are now concentrating their attacks near Novohrodivka, ISW experts note.
Ukrainian military observer Kostyantyn Mashovets emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to hold Marynivka (south of Novohrodivka), which, in his opinion, complicates the occupiers’ advance south to Selidove.
The Russian invaders advanced into the northwestern part of Mikhailovka, as well as into the fields west of Mykolaivka.
Mashovets also noted that enemy units are trying to break through Ukrainian positions in northwestern Krasnogorovka and suggested that they may be trying to support Russia’s efforts on the flank southeast of Pokrovsk.
In addition, the occupiers advanced to the Pivdennodonbaska mine to the east of Vuhledar.
