Ukraine conducted an operation in the Kursk region to prevent a new Russian offensive. These actions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces helped protect the population of the Sumy region.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, said this in an interview with CNN.
According to the general, the main objectives of the operation in the Kursk region are as follows:
prevent Russia from using the Kursk region as a springboard for a new offensive; to divert Russian troops from other directions; create a security zone and prevent shelling of civilian targets; take enemies prisoner; to raise the morale of the Ukrainian military and the nation as a whole.Syrskyi also noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces operation forced the Russians to transfer tens of thousands of their troops to the Kursk region, including fighters from the best airborne units in the Russian Federation.
