Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mykhailo Podolyak, noted in a comment to the media that Russians have seized Ukrainian territories with the aim of killing and destroying the population. According to him, it is not at all about any liberation or development of the seized areas.
Russia came to destroy
Mykhailo Podolyak emphasized that Russia is waging a classic imperialist war. The occupiers enter Ukraine to destroy our territories, change the ethnic composition of the population, and commit mass killings.
The territories of Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk regions, and the Crimean peninsula legally and factually remain Ukrainian, – said the advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
He noted that by shelling the partially occupied regions of Ukraine on October 1, Russia demonstrates that it considers them hostile.
If the Russians stay in these territories, we will have a prolonged continuation of the war. This is because the aggressor country can only exist in a state of war. Its main adversary will always be Ukraine, – commented Podolyak.
How to stop the war
The advisor to the Head of the Office of the President explained that there should be no illusions about Russia’s intentions or the possibility of reaching an agreement with it. The only way to stop the war is to "establish a just point now."
This means compelling Russia, in particular, so that the aggressor country realizes that military actions against Ukraine will be too costly and that its victory is impossible.
Military, economic, and diplomatic coercive measures are needed for this, – added Podolyak.
