Budanov was attempted to be removed and important units were taken away from intelligence, - media

The GUR planned to divide and take away some important functions from it.

An NV source in the security forces detailed plans to distribute part of the military intelligence capabilities to other military units.

The DIU was planned to be divided and to take away some important functions, a source in the security forces said. This was supposed to happen during a recent attempt to dismiss the head of military intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov, which, according to the interlocutor, truly took place.

According to this source, it was initially planned to take away the function of overseeing military attachés assigned to embassies or diplomatic missions to control military issues arising in the process of interstate relations from the DIU.

"Thus, the DIU would lose part of its international influence," said the source.

Moreover, according to him, it was planned to separate all special units performing operations at the frontline from intelligence and subordinate them to the army. Additionally, they tried to take groups using long-range drones from Budanov’s department and distribute them to other military structures. There was also talk of taking away the Coordination Headquarters for Dealing with Prisoners of War from the department.

According to the source, all this was "defended, but there will be a second round."

At the same time, this source did not name specific officials who were trying to remove Budanov and weaken military intelligence capabilities. He only noted that "some representatives of Bankova" were involved in this process.
