During the session of the High Anti-Corruption Court, a questioning of People’s Deputy from the Servant of the People party, Andriy Odarchenko, took place as he joined via video link.
The deputy was asked how he crossed the border if his passport is kept by the Migration Service.
Independently crossed, — the deputy replied.
During his speech, Odarchenko explained his version of events. His explanations were that the former head of the State Recovery Agency, Mustafa Nayyem, left him no choice but to offer a bribe to resolve the issue with the university’s repair, which he was overseeing.
During the questioning, the SAPO prosecutor asked Odarchenko:
— Did you offer an improper benefit?— I did offer.— For what?— For the allocation of funds for the university repair.
The SAPO prosecutor asked what the deputy meant by the phrases "I can give a crypto wallet... I can also give cash, but it will be risky" or "Just to clarify, I will not give anything by hand, only crypto." However, Odarchenko did not provide clear answers.
Regarding all his phrases related to money that were recorded, Odarchenko explained that he mentioned them "to keep the conversation going."
The HACC judge also asked Odarchenko a few questions.
— You were a member of the Anti-Corruption Committee, familiar with anti-corruption legislation. How should you have acted?— I should have filed a report with law enforcement agencies, that’s clear, that would have been the right thing to do. But I was compelled...— You could have spoken at the Anti-Corruption Committee or in the Parliament, you could have spoken to say that such a situation existed. The money would have been allocated to you and Nayyem would have been dismissed.— It was summer, six months until the New Year. This would have stopped the resolution of the issue and we wouldn’t have received the money.
