Restrictions are possible when the load on electricity and heaters increases.
Ukraine is close to power outages because in two weeks, electricity consumption will increase as people start turning on heaters.
This was stated by Yuriy Korolchuk, an expert from the Institute of Energy Strategies, on the air of "News Live".
"How close are we to outages? Close. In fact, in another two weeks, I think, we can talk about the overall increase in electricity consumption across Ukraine," the expert said.
He noted that since the heating season will start later, with the onset of cold weather, Ukrainians will begin using electric heaters.
"The heating season – we heard a certain justification from the authorities in Kyiv that we will save gas, so we will turn on the heating later. The load will shift to electricity and heaters, and then there may be restrictions. Not so significant, it cannot be said that it will immediately be for 12 hours. But until the frosts start – somewhere at night down to -10, and during the day -5 – we will not see those 12 hours," Korolchuk explained.
He added that "it will be different in various regions."
