The National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office have notified a former deputy head of a regional state administration of suspicion of demanding an unlawful benefit for allocating a forest plot to a private company for long-term use.
This is stated on the official website of NABU.
According to the investigation, at the beginning of 2024, one of the private companies decided to rent a forest plot of 19 hectares for recreational activities. After several appeals with corresponding official letters to the Regional State Administration and receiving refusals, the company’s representative received an offer from the deputy head.
«For allocating the forest plot for long-term use, he expressed a request to provide 200,000 USD, which he repeatedly reiterated during May-June», the statement reads.
At the end of May 2024, the official informed about the agreement of the decision by the head of the Regional State Administration and the readiness to sign the land transfer documents.
