MP stated that the electricity tariff will increase significantly

The cost of electricity in Ukraine may increase to 6.5 UAH/kWh to meet European standards, said Bohdan Kytsak.

Ukraine continues to align with the EU, and therefore it is necessary to adjust electricity tariffs to match European standards, which implies their increase. This was stated by Member of Parliament Bohdan Kytsak in a conversation with "News LIVE".

"One should not hope for the best, we need to be realistic," the MP noted.

In his opinion, integration with the European Union requires aligning many economic processes with European standards. One of such commitments is the regulation of electricity tariffs.

Kytsak emphasized that for this reason, Ukraine may set an electricity tariff of 6.5 UAH/kWh. He highlighted the significant difference between tariffs in Ukraine and Europe. This is related not only to economic factors but also to differences in salaries and pension payouts.

"This will be a long-term process of gradual increase. However, it can unfold practically if Ukraine continuously receives economic support or if Russian reparations begin. In other words, an inflow of funds into Ukraine’s economy," added Kytsak.

The MP noted that the process of gradually increasing the electricity tariff will begin next year.
