Lawyer Nosov failed to "bribe" NABU: HACC refused to close the case

The High Anti-Corruption Court refused to close the criminal case against attorney Oleksiy Nosov (pictured) for offering a bribe to the NABU and the SAPO in the interest of businessman Mykhaylo Kiperman, a figure involved in the case. The court also did not return the indictment to the prosecutor.

This decision was made by the HACC on November 19.

«To deny the defence lawyer’s motion to close the criminal case against (Oleksiy Nosov – ed.)... To deny the defence lawyers’ motion to return the indictment to the prosecutor in the criminal case against (Nosov – ed.)», – stated in the decision.

The Anti-Corruption Court arrested attorney Nosov with the possibility of posting a bail of 12 million UAH. Later, the bail amount was reduced to 1.21 million UAH. This amount was posted, and Nosov was released from custody. He was subjected to the following obligations: to report at the first demand; not to leave the Kyiv region, including Kyiv, without permission; to inform about any change of residence and/or employment; to refrain from communicating with the complainant in the criminal case; to surrender foreign passports for safekeeping and wear an electronic bracelet.

The NABU and the SAPO reported the detection of a capital attorney attempting to bribe an NABU detective and a SAPO prosecutor. This referred to Oleksiy Nosov. According to the investigation, the attorney offered these funds to the SAPO prosecutors and the NABU detectives to make a decision to transfer the criminal case concerning his client in the case of embezzling electrical energy from JSC «NEC «Ukrenergo» and legalizing the proceeds from its sale amounting to 716 million UAH to another pre-trial investigation body.
