Is it necessary to mobilize 18-year-olds: OC "West" provided an answer

The age of mobilization should not depend on external influence.

As of now, there is no need in Ukraine to mobilize men aged 18 to 25. The decision to mobilize from the age of 18 will depend on the situation at the front.

This opinion was expressed by Oleksiy Dombrovskyi, spokesperson of the Western Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to "Espreso".

The United States is urging Ukraine to lower the mobilization age to 18 years. In our military, this requirement is currently being rejected. According to the spokesperson, there are enough mobilization resources to meet the army’s needs.

"Mobilization from the age of 18 is merely the intentions and thoughts of officials in the United States. We are guided by the requirements of our current legislation and the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," he emphasized.

The spokesperson of the Western Operational Command stressed that the decision regarding mobilization is made by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine together with the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine and the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.

"It is a complex issue that should be free from external influence, and it is the sovereign right of our country to decide at what age mobilization should begin," he added.
