As a result of a collision with two servicemen at a checkpoint, one of them died, and the other was taken to the hospital.
In the Odesa region on the evening of December 2, a tragic incident occurred at a checkpoint. A 66-year-old driver of a VAZ car, ignoring road signs about speed restrictions, hit two servicemen of the State Border Guard Service who were at the post.
This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police of the Odesa region.
According to the police, as a result of the accident, one of the border guards died on the spot, and the other was taken to the hospital with injuries.
The driver was tested for alcohol intoxication and was found to be sober. He was detained in accordance with procedural rules.
The investigators of the Odesa region police have opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of traffic safety rules, which led to the death of a person or caused serious bodily harm. Pre-trial investigation is currently underway.
