"The Ukrainian Legion", trained in Poland, will not operate as a separate unit.
In Ukraine, the Legion’s participants will be distributed among different military units, according to a statement by Ukraine’s ambassador to Poland, Bodnar.
"Initially, basic military training is conducted in Poland, then, depending on each soldier’s specialization, they move to specialized training grounds, where they prepare to perform specific functions. After that, the soldiers are assigned to appropriate military units within Ukraine, where those who joined the ’Ukrainian Legion’ remain under the direct command of a specific military unit," the ambassador stated.
According to him, a new recruitment for the Legion is planned in January.
"In November, the first recruitment took place for signing contracts and forming the first Ukrainian unit. The next recruitment is scheduled for January 10. The exact number is not disclosed yet, at the request of the Ministry of Defense. Currently, we have over a thousand applications under review by the relevant commission," Bodnar stated in an interview with Suspilne.
