The Armed Forces of Ukraine spoke about urban battles in Toretsk

Yevhen Iyevlyev, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, noted that there are many industrial facilities in Toretsk where Ukrainian defenders have set up their positions, making it much harder for the enemy to advance through the city.

He said this on the air of "Espreso".

"There is nothing new in the enemy’s tactics since the time they captured Bakhmut or Avdiivka. The enemy initially approached Toretsk from one flank, attempting to enter the city through a corridor and expand their positions, which did not work out very well for them. Thus, they had to approach the city from three to four sides, to enter not from one corridor, but from a sort of semi-circle, to penetrate Toretsk and gradually push our guys out," commented the serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to him, the enemy’s tactics have not changed; as before, battles for houses, entrances, and floors continue today.

"Ukrainian defenders have been holding their ground in urban battles for more than a month now because Toretsk, like other cities in the Donetsk region, is mostly industrial. Accordingly, it is one thing to set up positions in the residential sector, and another to set them up in industrial zone facilities, which are sturdier, where the quality of both buildings and basements is different. Therefore, it is much more difficult for the enemy to advance and dislodge our guys from positions, for example, from the mining buildings located all over Toretsk. Unfortunately, the enemy is approaching the main Toretsk mine, but still, there is something to hold onto and something to cling to," Yevhen Iyevlyev concluded.
