In the Lviv region, two officials of the Mykolaiv City Council were detained for bribery


The deputy mayor and the head of the accounting department demanded bribes from the entrepreneur.

Operatives of the National Police’s Strategic Investigations Department detained Mykolaiv Deputy Mayor in Lviv region Illya Terekh and chief accountant Ella Kulchytska-Kostyk on suspicion of corruption.

The fact of the officials’ detention was confirmed by the National Police’s Strategic Investigations Department.

According to law enforcement officials, Mykolaiv City Council Deputy Mayor Illya Terekh and the head of the accounting and administrative support department Ella Kulchytska-Kostyk demanded bribes from the entrepreneur in exchange for not creating artificial obstacles in the acceptance-transfer and supply of goods, as well as for timely payment processing of invoices.

The chief accountant was detained on January 3 while receiving the second installment of the bribe amounting to 17,000 UAH. The money was intended for Deputy Illya Terekh.

The detainees are being prepared for suspicion notification and preventive measures. Journalists tried to get a comment from Mykolaiv Mayor Andriy Shchebel regarding the detention of his subordinates on corruption charges, but the mayor did not respond to calls.
