Zelenskyy controls the investigation of abuses in the army to improve relations with France

The Economist reports that Volodymyr Zelenskyy has taken control of investigations into cases of abuse of power in the army in an attempt to appease France’s discontent.

The new mobilization law, adopted last spring, has not stopped forced conscription on the streets, the article points out.

The number of deserters increased last year. Some generals turn a blind eye to negative events, while other military personnel blame their subordinates.
