Corruption fantasies of Zablotskyi: Why the MP is bothered by 7 billion USAID

Kickbacks from international grants?No way…

Actually, Maryan Zablotskyi had a dream. He wanted to become the head of the Tax Service, block tax invoices for businesses, receive "reports" in sports bags from the excise department, and report to his "boss" — if possible in crypto.

But the dream shattered along with the dismissal of Rostyslav Shurma from the Office of the President, who had actually promised Maryan his own "candle factory" in the form of the tax office, as well as the tax haven 10-10-10.

Since Maryan lost his tax-related dream, he has been searching for a new one for a long time. And it seems that, having seen the volume of support for Ukraine from USAID — $7 billion — he found it.

The dream is simple, like the entire economic vertical of the country. If money flows by and we don’t control it, we’re wasting our bureaucratic bread. We need to control it.As they say in the government quarter: "2–3% doesn’t lie on the road," but here — a whole $7 billion!

Zablotskyi’s idea is not only read between the lines in his post but hits straight on in one sentence:

Under the guise of a U.S. audit, subordinate the reporting for the use of grant money to the Ukrainian authorities.

What does this mean in practice? The same 2–3–5% kickbacks for signing and accepting reports by officials, blocking reports for those "who don’t need it," and lobbying for those "who really need it."Like the authorities are "in the game."Otherwise, you see, they sign reports for anyone, and even for free! But it should be — for their own, and with "profit."

Can you imagine what a field for pressure on grant projects?Do you like this idea?I think no one likes it.

It’s not even worth mentioning that the member of parliament is actually happy about blocking critical aid to the country.Complete madness.

Schools, hospitals, veterans’ prosthetics, energy…All this instantly lost funding. The President is personally looking for alternative sources of funds, and only one MP, Zablotskyi, openly rejoices in this.

He is happy to intimidate NGOs with an audit and plans to ride these flows.

But I think it should start with something else — with an audit of Zablotskyi himself.

For example, an audit of his vacation in 2023 to warm places, which no one signed for him.Or an audit of thousands of missed votes and hundreds of parliamentary sessions.

Do you think the organizations Maryan plans to audit could withstand such an audit?

P.S. The post is written in support of USAID’s activities in Ukraine.
