Cyberpolice uncovered illegal production of counterfeit perfumes and cosmetics

Cyber police officers, in collaboration with detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine and under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, uncovered a group of offenders engaged in the illegal production of perfumery and cosmetic products under the guise of globally renowned brands.

The organizers set up underground workshops in the territories of Kharkiv, Kyiv, and Poltava regions. The counterfeit products were sold through retail outlets and online, delivering them to customers by mail across Ukraine.

Experts confirmed that the counterfeits were of low quality, and their labeling and packaging did not meet the manufacturers’ standards. This caused significant financial losses to international companies.

During searches, more than 10,000 units of finished products, about 30 tons of raw materials of dubious quality, plastic containers with chemical substances, bottles, and other materials were seized.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding the illegal use of trademarks. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and additional legal qualification is not excluded.
