Ukrainians do not trust the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin and are not ready to make all the concessions that Russia demands from us. The special envoy of the US President for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg (who arrived in Kyiv on February 19), should go out into the streets and ask people about this.
The corresponding statement was made by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, at a press conference on Wednesday, February 19. He emphasized that first and foremost, the opinion of the residents of our country needs to be taken into account.
"In my opinion, we should first consider what the people, who are at war with this enemy, think about this? Making all concessions to Russia? This is supported by 1% of the population. This is the answer to everything.
We should not do it this way, they are guilty, they [Russians] cannot be cleansed, like money – it cannot be cleansed, just like laundering dirty money, dirty people. This is simply impossible. Because nobody will believe you. It might seem possible to resolve it with some agreements, documents, and so on. But it is impossible. In Ukraine, no one believes Putin," Zelenskyy emphasized.
He added that today (that is February 19), Kellogg will be able to get acquainted with the ratings that interest American partners.
"It’s very important for me that he walks around Kyiv himself, other cities… That he speaks with people: do they trust their President, do they trust Putin. Let him ask about [Donald] Trump: what they think after such statements..." Zelenskyy advised.
He called such a dialogue with people very important. "We do not want to take him anywhere. Let him choose himself… It’s very important to understand firsthand what’s happening. And then, as I said, I am ready to go with him to the front. I will go with him!.. And there let him talk with the military," the President said.
He advised Kellogg to ask Ukraine’s defenders if they are ready to drop everything and urgently vote without having any security guarantees for their country. "Well, let him ask them, the people who live and fight here," Zelenskyy declared.
