The aggressor country, Russia, will not cease attempts to destabilize the situation within Ukraine. However, such attempts will be met with appropriate counteraction.
This was stated by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, in an interview with Azerbaijani journalist Eynulla Fatullayev, which was published on February 18. He, in particular, believes that Moscow is unlikely to succeed in employing new tactics to destabilize the situation within the Ukrainian state.
"Believe me, neither the Russians nor we can come up with anything fundamentally new and large-scale. Everything has been worked out already. Yes, there will be attempts (to destabilize Ukraine. – Ed.). But it’s nothing to worry about – any action has a counteraction," said the lieutenant general.
The head of military intelligence also spoke about the interrogation of captured soldiers from the North Korean army.
"Our officers interrogated captured North Koreans. They added to my understanding of what autocracy and totalitarianism are, perhaps in their most horrific form. These are misanthropic approaches that do not even create obedient people, but biorobots," Budanov said.
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate also expressed the opinion that a ceasefire on the front is possible this year:
"I believe that it will happen. There are most of the components for this to occur."
