Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuliya Tymoshenko and former President Petro Poroshenko have confirmed that they are in talks with the team of U.S. President Donald Trump on a range of issues.
They announced this on their Facebook pages.
Poroshenko states that he "openly and transparently cooperates with American partners" and discusses not only support for Ukraine, but also "democratic resilience (freedom and democracy)."
At the same time, he emphasizes that he is against holding elections during wartime.
Poroshenko points out that he proposed coordinating these meetings with the authorities and inviting the ambassador, as he has "repeatedly publicly pointed out the lack of communication between the ruling team and the American administration, which poses a risk to the state."
Tymoshenko writes that she is "negotiating with all our allies who can help achieve a just peace quickly," but is also firmly against elections during wartime.
It should be noted that Politico’s article mentioned that Trump’s team is strengthening relations with Ukrainian opposition politicians in their game against Zelenskyy. Therefore, it is interesting that both Poroshenko and Tymoshenko almost immediately confirmed their contacts with Washington.
