Explosions in Ivano-Frankivsk on the evening of March 11 occurred due to the detonation of explosive devices. Various working theories are being considered, and the involvement of Russian special services is not excluded.
This was reported by Ivano-Frankivsk Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv on the air of the channel "1+1".
According to him, three victims are in the hospital. One of them lost two limbs and is in serious condition in the intensive care unit. Also injured were a girl in moderate condition and a young man with minor injuries.
The mayor reported that a minor student died as a result of the explosion.
The second explosion, according to Martsinkiv, occurred approximately 100 meters from the first site, after which the roof of the building caught fire. There were four people inside; they were not injured and do not require hospitalization.
"Preliminarily, in the first case, an explosive device went off, and in the second case - likely, also an explosive device. However, the police are still investigating," Martsinkiv noted.
He added that various working theories of the causes of the explosions are being considered. The mayor did not exclude the involvement of Russian special services.
"There are a number of working theories - from careless handling to other versions, possibly involving Moscow special services. It is still too early to say, as an investigation is underway," the mayor said.
