Military commissars in the territorial recruitment centers consider attempted suicides by mobilized individuals as "evasion of military service" and "a manifestation of disgraceful cowardice."
This is stated in a comment from the Poltava regional territorial recruitment center regarding yesterday’s information about a 25-year-old man who cut his veins with a key.
The recruitment center also reports about a 32-year-old man who attempted to cut his veins with a shard of glass from a broken bottle.
"Disgraceful acts of cowardice and self-harm are spread in the media space as a ’suicide attempt’, the command of the Poltava regional territorial recruitment center and SP considers them as attempts to evade military service," the recruitment center reports.
In both cases, it was done demonstratively, in front of witnesses, without any threat to life or health, with the understanding that nearby medical professionals would be able to provide necessary assistance in time. The men have already passed the medical commission and were deemed fit for military service (including by a psychiatrist).
"Accordingly, they were already mobilized and waiting for deployment to the training center as military personnel. After treatment, their actions will be considered by law enforcement agencies precisely as those of military personnel," the statement says.
