U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the war in Ukraine could have led to the beginning of World War III. However, according to him, the situation is now "partially under control."
Trump made this statement in an interview with the portal OutKick. Commenting on the war between Russia and Ukraine, he said it could have escalated into World War III.
"I would like to see if we can stop the killing of soldiers – even if they are not American soldiers – although such things can lead to World War III. I think it is partially under control," he said.
Additionally, Trump said that "it would be great to stop this," referring to the war in Ukraine.
However, he did not give a definitive answer to the question of whether he believes he would deserve the Nobel Peace Prize if the conflict were resolved through his mediation.
In the interview, Trump also described his relations with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin as good.
At the same time, he noted that his relations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy are "actually good as well."
In addition, Trump praised the first months of his presidency.
"We had a great first month. We had a great second month, you know, it’s already two months now, and the second month was just as good as the first," he stated.
