Governor of the NBU Pyshnyi denied Poroshenko’s accusations of political pressure

The Head of the National Bank of Ukraine, Andriy Pyshnyi, rejected accusations by the fifth president and leader of the parliamentary faction "European Solidarity," Petro Poroshenko, that the institution is fulfilling a political assignment.

This is stated in a post by Pyshnyi.

He denied Poroshenko’s claims that the NBU began an investigation into the activities of the "Poroshenko Foundation," the ROSHEN fund, and the community-based organization "Sprava Hromad."

According to the head of the National Bank, the "Poroshenko Foundation" should be audited by the "International Investment Bank" ("IIB"), whose ultimate beneficiary is the fifth president. It is in this bank that the foundation’s account is opened.

At the same time, Pyshnyi confirmed the audit of the "IIB" bank but called it "scheduled." According to him, the NBU reported this on its website back in December 2024. The bank audit is ongoing, and no violations have been detected so far, added the head of the institution.

In addition, the head of the NBU emphasized that the audit of the "IIB" bank does not block the operational activity of its clients.

Pyshnyi also denied that financial monitoring is inquiring who the recipient of charitable aid is. As explained by the head of the National Bank, the focus of the monitoring is the verification of operations related to non-return of currency proceeds and undelivered paid goods over the past three years.

According to Pyshnyi, Poroshenko’s post caused "a wave of information discreditation and pressure" on the National Bank.

"For the first time, the National Bank of Ukraine, which I head, received a direct accusation of fulfilling a political assignment and irresponsibility," stated Pyshnyi.

He urged Poroshenko to publicly provide evidence of pressure from the NBU, as he mentioned. In their absence, he asked him to retract the published statement.

What preceded this?

The day before, Petro Poroshenko stated that he received a letter about an examination of the "Poroshenko Foundation," the ROSHEN fund, and the CBO "Sprava Hromad."

According to the member of parliament, the NBU was interested in the principles by which the "Poroshenko Foundation" selects donors and the criteria organizations use to determine the allocation of funds.

Poroshenko also wrote that the National Bank inquired who the recipient of the charitable aid is.

He accused the National Bank of carrying out a "political assignment" and asking "absurd" questions.
