Russia is planning new attacks on the energy infrastructure, - President Zelenskyy

An aggressive country, Russia, is preparing to launch new attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a meeting with energy workers on Thursday, April 17.

"We know what Russia is preparing for. We have information from our special services, from intelligence. Now - both on the eve of Easter and after it - new Russian strikes are possible," the head of state noted.

Zelenskyy assured that the protection of the energy system will continue.

"We will continue to protect our country, our energy sector. However, this protection is not only in air defence missiles, it is not only provided by the military. We are grateful to everyone who conscientiously and efficiently works in every community, in each of our regions, for keeping Ukraine with light, for Ukraine’s recovery," said the president.

Zelenskyy emphasized that the third winter of full-scale war was passed without a blackout.

"It was difficult, there were many threats, outages, losses. But Ukraine maintained its energy system – unified and operational. And this is an extremely important achievement of our people, specifically the people. Many individuals who protect energy facilities, restore them after strikes, make repairs – even under fire – build what is needed for protection, ensure the operation of power plants, networks – our entire energy sector. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have made efforts to ensure that Ukraine didn’t lose its energy," he stated and awarded state honors to the energy workers.
