Former MP-on-the-run Artem Dmytruk accused Kyiv residents of the Russian attack on the capital

Former member of parliament Artem Dmytruk, who fled Ukraine, once again made a provocative statement. Commenting on Russia’s nighttime missile attack on Kyiv on April 24, he cynically blamed the residents of the capital themselves.

In his post, Dmytruk quoted a passage from the book «War and the Bible» by Bishop Nicholas of Serbia, comparing the Russian shelling to a “spark” that was “thrown” into a city already “soaked in gasoline”, implying that Kyiv residents themselves were at fault for the tragedy.

«If the citizens of some city pour gasoline over their houses, and some boy, out of malice or mischief, throws a lit match into the city, who will be named the real culprit of the fire?» — Dmytruk wrote.

These words came as a reaction to Donald Trump’s call to stop the strikes on Kyiv. However, Dmytruk chose to present this through the lens of philosophical «reflections» and effectively justified the aggressor, once again siding with Russia.

Let us remind you that Dmytruk was elected to the Verkhovna Rada in 2019 from the «Servant of the People» party, but was later expelled from the faction. He is currently abroad, giving interviews to Russian propaganda media, promoting the idea of “peace with Russia”, and is known for his support of the UOC MP.

His latest statements have already sparked a wave of outrage in Ukrainian society, and social media users are calling for him to be stripped of his mandate and held accountable for anti-Ukrainian activities.
