U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the main obstacle to achieving peace in Ukraine is not Vladimir Putin, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump said this in an interview with the program Special Report on Fox News.
"That man is Zelenskyy, who has no trumps," Trump emphasized. He also added that he had a "fairly tough conversation" with the Ukrainian leader because he "didn’t like what he said." In his opinion, Zelenskyy did not facilitate the search for solutions: "I’ve always said – he has no trumps. And he really doesn’t."
Trump has also repeatedly called the president of Ukraine "the best salesperson in the world": "Zelenskyy is the best trader in the world, much better than me. Every time he comes, he leaves with $100 million," he said.
At the same time, Trump declared that the United States could impose strict sanctions against Russia if a peace agreement on Ukraine is not reached. He also noted that if Putin were not stuck in the war, "they would be in Kyiv in 5 hours."
