In the process of the prisoner exchange on May 24, Ukraine managed to return 27 defenders of Mariupol. Prisoners from certain units and military parts were freed for the first time.
This was reported by the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Today, as part of the second stage of the "1000 for 1000" exchange, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including the Airborne Assault Forces, State Border Service, Naval Forces, Territorial Defence Forces, State Border Guard Service, and National Guard of Ukraine, returned to their native land
All 307 released defenders are men, representatives of the rank and file, and sergeant staff.
In total, Ukrainians who fought in Donetsk, Kherson, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, and Luhansk directions are returning home.
The youngest freed is 25 years old, and the oldest is 61 years old. Among them are wounded and sick. The released Ukrainians were traditionally greeted by their families and friends.
"Freed from captivity, the defenders will undergo necessary medical examinations, receive assistance for physical and psychological rehabilitation, as well as all due payments for the entire time spent in captivity," added the Coordinating Headquarters.
