In the Kyiv region, due to an attack by Russia, scientist Mykola Likhter was killed

In the village of Markhalivka in the Kyiv region, 77-year-old scientist Mykola Likhter died during a Russian shelling.

He was an associate professor at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine and had over 50 years of scientific experience. This was reported by the Department of Poultry, Pig, and Sheep Breeding Technologies of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences.

Mykola Likhter was a candidate of agricultural sciences, associate professor, and head of the educational, scientific, and production laboratory of poultry production technologies at the Department of Poultry, Pig, and Sheep Breeding Technologies, a practitioner, scholar, and educator.

As reported by the educational institution, over nearly 50 years of work, Likhter served as an assistant, senior researcher, deputy dean of the veterinary and zoo engineering faculties, and associate professor. As a highly qualified teacher with significant pedagogical and scientific-practical experience, he made a significant contribution to the preparation of personnel for the livestock sector and the development and restoration of the material and technical base of the department.

The Department of Poultry, Pig, and Sheep Breeding Technologies, where Likhter worked, expressed deep sorrow over his death. Colleagues described him as a dedicated scientist who made a significant contribution to the development of agricultural science.

Likhter lived in Kyiv but often traveled to Markhalivka to relax in nature. His house was almost unharmed, but a shell fragment fatally injured the scientist. The wife of the deceased shared that she had a bad feeling and asked her husband not to go, but he decided to spend time in the village.

The deceased’s daughter, Tetyana Bondarenko, shared that her father often visited the village: «Here is nature, he always wanted to live in nature, in peace.»
