On the evening of May 31, the police received a report from medical personnel about the death of a 36-year-old resident of the village of Maidan, who was transported by ambulance from his residence to a medical facility.
The police found out that in the evening, a conflict arose between the deceased and his 59-year-old father, who was intoxicated. During the conflict, the latter grabbed a knife and stabbed his son in the neck.
As a result of the penetrating wound, the man died in the ambulance.
The individual involved in the crime was detained by the police according to Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility. The suspect was examined, and a blood alcohol level of 2.06 ppm was found.
Police investigators qualified his actions under part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, meaning intentional murder.
Currently, the police are preparing materials to notify the man of suspicion and to choose a preventive measure. For the committed act, he faces up to 15 years of imprisonment.
The investigation into the case continues.
