The judicial system is "collapsing": 110 judges have resigned in 5 months, — HCJ

The Ukrainian judicial system is experiencing a mass exodus of personnel: in the first five months of 2025 alone, 110 judges have resigned from their positions.

This was reported by the High Council of Justice (HCJ), emphasizing that these are the highest resignation rates in recent years.

According to the HCJ, from January to May 2025:

88 judges resigned voluntarily; 16 judges resigned due to the expiration of their terms; 6 judges left for other reasons.

Such a staffing deficit represents a serious blow to the entire Ukrainian judicial system.

The main reasons for the mass resignations are cited as excessive workload, low guarantees of independence, as well as fear of persecution and political pressure.
