According to the Russian side, the bodies belong to Ukrainian citizens, including servicemen.
As reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, as a result of the conducted repatriation activities, the bodies of 1,000 deceased have been returned to Ukraine.
It is reported that the bodies were returned thanks to the joint efforts of the staff of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center at the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Office of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons Under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other structures of the Security and Defence Sector of Ukraine.
Law enforcement investigators together with expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will conduct all necessary examinations and carry out the identification of the repatriated bodies.

Special thanks to the personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who facilitate the transportation of the repatriated to designated state specialized institutions and organize the transfer of the deceased to law enforcement representatives in the Ministry of Internal Affairs system and forensic examination in the Ministry of Health system," the statement said.
