In the coming months, the Defence Forces of Ukraine are facing a decisive battle for the territory under their control in the Donetsk region.
This opinion was expressed by Yevhen Dykyi, a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war and former commander of a company in the "Aidar" battalion, during a broadcast on "Radio NV."
"This fall, we are facing a decisive battle for the large agglomeration, these four major cities that remain under Ukrainian control - Slovyansk, Kramatorsk, Kostyantynivka, and Druzhkivka. The political goals of the aggressor are so evident here. They critically need control over Donbas as a starting line for any potential negotiations," Dykyi said.
He explained that the Russians tried to obtain these territories from Ukraine through agreements with Trump. However, since they failed to do so, Moscow will not engage in serious negotiations until it captures the entire Donetsk region.
"They will try to use all their resources to push this large agglomeration out during the fall. Therefore, I would expect a significant intensification of fighting there," Dykyi added.
