In battles against Russian occupiers, Dmytro Pasichnyk, a ballet artist of the Lviv National Opera, was killed. He had been working at the theater since October 2024, and in June 2025, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The death of Dmytro was announced by the Lviv National Opera on their official page on Facebook.
The theater team noted that he joined the corps de ballet less than a year ago but had already become part of most productions. The management and colleagues of the artist expressed their condolences to his family and friends.
"With great sorrow, we announce the death of ballet artist Dmytro Pasichnyk. Dmytro had been working in the theater’s ballet troupe since October of last year. In June 2025, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The management and staff of the Lviv National Opera express their sincere condolences to Dmytro’s family, loved ones, and friends. Eternal memory to the Hero," the opera’s press service reported.
Dmytro Pasichnyk studied at the Faculty of Culture and Arts of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, where he earned a bachelor’s degree and continued his studies at the master’s level.
The university confirmed his death and emphasized that the community has lost a talented alumnus who gave his life for the freedom of the country. "Eternal memory and everlasting glory to Dmytro Pasichnyk – a Hero of Ukraine," the university’s statement reads.
Since October 2024, Pasichnyk had been working in the ballet troupe of the Lviv National Opera. According to Alina Plakhtienko, head of the theater’s advertising and information department, he was a corps de ballet dancer and participated in most ballet performances of the repertoire. In June of this year, the artist decided to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
