The High Anti-Corruption Court extended the detention of the deputy of the Zakarpattia Regional Council from the "For the Future" party, Oleksandr Antal, until November 16, in the case concerning the organization of an illegal scheme for ferrying people across the state border and for abuse of influence. His bail was left unchanged at 15.14 million UAH.
This decision was made by the HACC on September 18.
As known, the anti-corruption court extended the arrest of Deputy Antal for two months. Simultaneously, his bail was reduced to 15.14 million UAH. A detective of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau requested to extend the arrest for another two months and to leave the bail unchanged.
"The motion of the NABU detective is to be satisfied. To extend the suspect’s (Antal’s - ed.) detention for 60 days, that is, until November 16, 2025, but not beyond the investigation period in the criminal case. To set the suspect’s bail at 15,140,000 UAH," the decision states.
It should be recalled that NABU and SAPO informed the deputy of the Zakarpattia Regional Council about the suspicion. According to the investigation, the regional council deputy, during a conversation with a citizen, offered to solve the issue of border crossing by military personnel outside of official crossing points. For this purpose, the deputy engaged a person who allegedly has direct influence over the employees of the State Border Service and can ensure an unobstructed border crossing. The cost of crossing the border is 10,000 euros per person.
Moreover, the deputy noted that he could arrange the transportation of individuals from Kyiv to a designated place, as well as ensure not only the exit but also the entry of individuals into Ukraine. SAPO and NABU exposed the regional council deputy immediately after receiving the agreed sum, namely 20,000 euros. His accomplice was detained.
