Sweden plans to sell Ukraine up to 150 modern Gripen fighters

Sweden will sell Ukraine 120-150 modern Saab JAS 39 Gripen E fighter jets. Production is already starting, and the deal will span over 10-15 years.

This is reported by TV4 Nyheterna citing Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

He emphasized that the two countries signed a memorandum of intent - this number of aircraft will double the largest sales volume of Sweden to date.

"This is the beginning of a long journey, but it brings us closer to a major export deal for Saab and for Sweden with Ukraine," Kristersson stressed.

Currently, Sweden can sell just over ten Gripen C/D fighters.

"This opens great opportunities for the future air forces of Ukraine, as well as for Sweden and the Swedish defence industry," said the country’s minister.
