Russian aircraft violated Lithuanian airspace

The Lithuanian Armed Forces reported that Russian Su-30 and Il-78 aircraft, which took off from the direction of Kaliningrad, crossed into the country’s territory for a distance of about 700 meters over a period of 18 seconds.

Spanish Eurofighter Typhoon jets, which are carrying out a NATO air policing mission, were scrambled to intercept them.

President Gitanas Nausėda described the incident as a «gross violation of territorial integrity» and stated that the Russian ambassador would be summoned to provide explanations.
