Judges from Ternopil region announced suspicion due to a fatal road accident in Prykarpattia


A judge who caused a fatal traffic accident in Prykarpattia has been notified of suspicion.

Under the procedural guidance of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a judge of the Pidhaitsi District Court of Ternopil Region has been informed of suspicion for violating road safety rules, which resulted in the death of a pedestrian and injuries to another person (Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, on October 31, 2025, in the village of Fraha, Ivano-Frankivsk District, on the Mukachevo-Lviv highway, the suspect, while driving a Lexus UX 250h and heading towards Lviv, failed to reduce speed when approaching an unregulated pedestrian crossing and struck two pedestrians.

As a result of the accident, one of the pedestrians died at the scene, while the other sustained bodily injuries.

The pre-trial investigation, under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, is being conducted by investigators of the territorial unit of the State Bureau of Investigation.

At this time, a submission has been sent to the High Council of Justice requesting consent for the detention of the suspected judge, as well as a motion for her temporary suspension from administering justice due to criminal liability. 

Today, the consideration of the aforementioned documents is scheduled at a meeting of the High Council of Justice.
