A court has ordered a fine and revocation of the driver’s license for businessman Dmytro Teytelbaum, who was stopped by the police while driving a Rolls-Royce under the influence of alcohol.
This became known from the decision of the Kyiv Court of Kharkiv dated October 20, 2016, posted in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
Besides Teytelbaum, there was a passenger in the car – a man with visible signs of intoxication, who was sleeping in the front seat.
Teytelbaum initially categorically refused to take an alcohol test and reacted rather turbulently to all police actions, threatening the officers. Dmytro explained the smell of alcohol from his mouth as being due to his use of alcohol-based medication for a sore throat.
"We were standing. The police came. They said we were drunk. Here we are, drinking beer, waiting for the driver. We came to buy a toy for my child. (The patrol stopped the car near the children’s store "Antonshka" — ed.) It is his birthday today. We explained to the police that the driver would arrive shortly and take the car," claimed Teytelbaum.

The scandal lasted about three hours. Teytelbaum’s lawyer arrived at the scene. The police checked the documents and sent the driver of the "Rolls-Royce" home under patrol escort.
During the incident, a local journalist and the police conducted a video recording, which was later presented to the court.
The violator did not appear at the court hearing and did not provide a reason. Judge Viktor Popras found him guilty of committing an offense under Article 130, Part 1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, based on the administrative protocol dated August 13, 2016.
The violator was fined 10,200 hryvnias and his driving privileges were revoked for one year.
As reported by Kharkiv media, earlier Dmytro Teytelbaum had already been spotted violating traffic rules. In 2012, he allegedly participated in street racing and collided with a "Daewoo" car, after which he fled the scene.
