NABU obtained evidence of the criminal activities of Halanternyk and Trukhanov in London

In London, specialists from the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency and detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) obtained the necessary evidence as part of an investigation into the activities of a criminal organization uncovered in the fall of 2021, which was based in Odesa and led by the city’s mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, and businessman Volodymyr Halanternyk.

This was reported by the British Embassy in Kyiv.

The joint actions were made possible by the Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Information Exchange to Combat Organized Crime established in 2021.

The United Kingdom, along with other international partners, supports the development of technical and human resources of NABU and other anti-corruption institutions in Ukraine since their inception.

An uncompromising fight against corruption and addressing its risks will ensure the targeted use of public finances during the process of the country’s recovery and rebuilding for the benefit of the Ukrainian people.

Let us recall that since November 2021, NABU has been conducting an investigation in absentia regarding Halanternyk. The High Anti-Corruption Court has in absentia detained the businessman, who is suspected by NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) of creating a criminal organization in Odesa, causing damages amounting to 689 million hryvnias.
