Röpke: The Ukrainian Armed Forces left the “most fortified position” in the north of Avdiivka

Bild military columnist Julian Röpke is “shocked” that Ukrainian troops surrendered the Avdiivka coking plant, which was the most fortified facility in the city.

“Given that they planned to ‘withdraw units from the city and go on the defensive in more advantageous positions,’ you can see my slight shock - since this plant is perhaps the most fortified position in the area,” wrote Bild military observer Julian Röpke.

To confirm his words, he published yesterday’s footage of a Russian flag over one of the plant’s buildings (according to Röpke, it was taken from the eastern side of the plant).

At the same time, as we have already written, Russian sources report that Ukrainian troops remain at the plant. Russian Defence Minister Sergiy Shoigu claimed that Ukrainian forces were blocking the plant.

At night, Russian military telegram channels allegedly published videos of air strikes at the plant.

However, there is no evidence from the Ukrainian side that the Ukrainian Armed Forces remain at the coke plant.

Maps on Ukrainian military publicity sites show that the entire enterprise has fallen under Russian control.
