Ukraine and Italy signed a bilateral agreement on security guarantees.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Saturday, February 24, following a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

“Our meetings with the head of the Italian government, Giorgia Maloney, are always meaningful. An important result today was the signing of a bilateral security agreement,” the Telegram message said.

According to the President of Ukraine, this document lays a solid foundation for a long-term security partnership between Ukraine and Italy.

“Today we also discussed further support for Ukraine in the context of Italy’s presidency of the G7,” Zelenskyy added.

It should be noted that in July 2023, the G7 countries signed a declaration on long-term security guarantees and economic support for Ukraine. The signatories will promote reforms necessary for Ukraine’s membership in NATO. The next step is the conclusion of bilateral security agreements between Ukraine and individual guarantor countries.
